We’re confident to brag that this is the coolest pool on the island of Vieques! This is a spectacular curving 30-foot two-level edifice facing a breathtaking panoramic Atlantic Ocean view. This state-of-the-art pool features a unique “beach” area, where you and your chaise lounge sit in 8” of cool pool water. Or, jump right in and swim out to the edge of infinity and gaze at the pristine sweeping 180 degree view.
“The Exterior”
At Vista dos Mares, the scope of tropical island living flows organically from its cozy right-at-home interior to its expansive multifaceted exterior. The primary attraction of the outdoor area – aside from the view - is our state-of the-art pool and decks.
“The Interior”
Enjoy the comfort of our home while you are on vacation in the tropics. VDM is fully stocked with all the amenities you'll need, including plush towels, new linens, pillows and mattresses --– just the way we like them. If you wish to do your own cooking, there is a modern, fully equipped kitchen conveniently open to the living room on one side and the dining room on the other.

Our house is equipped with a washer and dryer, satellite TV, DVD players and high speed DSL-Wi-Fi access throughout the property. You can send an e-mail while eating a mango from the tree or get a weather report from back home from your chaise lounge in the pool...

There are ceiling fans in every room of the house. It is fully air conditioned but we’ll bet you’ll rarely need it. Perched at one of the highest points on the island, the comfortable breezes constantly criss-cross throughout the house from the “dos mares” -- seas on both sides.
On the same level as the pool itself, this is where the action is! The upper deck is tiled in striking heat-resistant, multi-colored lava rock. This expansive deck area features a wet bar, private glass block outdoor shower, teak dining table for up to 8, chaise lounges, pillows, patio umbrellas, wrap-around polished concrete benches, floral planters and views from every angle.
Situated just below the pool above is a more intimate lower deck. With the same awesome panoramic views as the upper deck, this cozy setting includes an inviting oversized hammock and a rattan/glass table with chairs for four, perfect for a quiet lunch overlooking the endless views.  This is a peaceful – and expansive -- outdoor world unto itself, with gorgeous Spanish deck tiles and colorfully landscaped planters.
Off the one-bedroom and studio apartments, another large and very private tiled patio gracefully curves out into the garden of green and flowering indigenous plantings. There’s a comfy table and chairs for eating or reading in this very enchanting outdoor nook.
Walk through the dining room’s French doors onto a bi-level tiled patio, with views of both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The lower patio is for relaxing with livingroom-style cushioned teak furniture as well as a Weber gas grill. The upper patio area is perfect for outdoor dining on a round glass table and chairs. Look left out over the blue Caribbean Sea and the world famous Bioluminescent Bay. Or look right over the palm trees at the Atlantic Ocean with its sweeping views of Puerto Rico, Culebra and St. Thomas in the distance.
The yard of Vista Dos Mares slopes sharply downward. Terraced shade paths wander through flowering shrubs, fruit trees and lovely palm framed views.
A spacious, sunny dining room with a table suitable for 8. Full wall of windows with views looking out to the Caribbean Sea side of Vista dos Mares; French doors open out to a bi-level outdoor dining patio.
An open and airy modern kitchen with lots of elbow room to prepare meals with friends and family. Cobalt blue countertop tiles surround a gas stove and refrigerator/freezer -- all new appliances and cooking equipment. Vista dos Mares comes fully equipped with all you’ll need for elegant but casual dining, including wine and martini glasses, plates and utensils, cloth napkins and table mats.

“The House with a View of Two Seas”
Vista dos Mares is a well-appointed, comfy home on the unspoiled Caribbean island of Vieques with gorgeous views of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Our house sleeps 8 comfortably: 2 bedrooms/2 baths in the main house, a separate entrance 1-bedroom/1 bath garden apartment below, a separate entrance studio apartment/pool house with a full bathroom, all with views of the Atlantic Ocean. Outside, there is off-street parking for up to 6 vehicles.

The open and airy house is designed to combine indoor and outdoor living with 4 distinct patios: the pool area with an upper and lower deck, the garden bedroom walkway and a bi-level patio off the dining room. Each outdoor area has a dining table and chairs and is surrounded by beautiful flowering hibiscus and bougainvillea.

The highlight of Vista dos Mares is our 30-foot long swimming pool and decks designed to fully complement the extraordinary panoramic Atlantic Ocean views. The pool features underwater benches and a luxurious shallow “beach” area, where you can perch your chaise lounge in the water and sip your drink looking out at the ocean! Surrounding the pool is a large upper deck with ample lounge chairs, a teak dining table expandable for 8, a wet bar, glass block hot water outdoor shower, and heat-resistant lava rock deck tiles. One of our favorite hiding places is the more intimate lower pool deck where you can escape to relax on the oversized hammock. Both decks are landscaped with indigenous flowering plants, palm trees, and graceful beach grasses.

Some other conveniences of the house are a fully equipped kitchen with all new modern appliances, a Weber gas grill and high-speed Wi-Fi DSL access throughout the entire property and air conditioning throughout.

We’ll provide you with all the necessary information to explore what the island has to offer: kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, nature tours, moonlight Bio Bay excursions, local bars and restaurants, grocery stores, who to call in an emergency. We’ll also tell you how to arrange for maid service, a private chef, tour guides, massage, yoga, etc.

But, don't take our word for it. Vieques'amazing Bio bay has been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as “the world’s brightest bioluminescent bay”! Just one of many reasons to visit our Island paradise.
“The perfect location!”
Vista Dos Mares is situated on one of the highest points of the island in the Los Chivos section of Vieques. From this central location, you are an easy 10-minute drive to the port town of Isabel Segunda, the Caribbean seaside village of Esperanza or many of the best secluded beaches in the world. You are also close to most of the island’s diverse restaurants.

In Vieques you are a world apart. Wild horses roam freely alongside chickens, cows, goats. You could be halfway around the world, but there is no language barrier, no currency to exchange, and a US Post Office that is conveniently located in Isabel Segunda. Vieques is a community. Natives live, work and go to school here. Many residents are Americans who discovered this special island over the years.

Stay at our house and become part of that community. Live in a real neighborhood, and be a traveler, not a tourist. Feel what it’s like to live on a beautiful tropical island.
